The list compiled by loan specialists Credit Problems No Problem has evaluated the demand for bad credit loans which shows a landslide for the capital city. Birmingham and Sheffield follow with Liverpool coming in a distant ninth.

The report also revealed Northerners and Midlanders are collectively three times more likely than Southerners to apply for an unsecured loan for debt consolidation and more Northerners than Southerners require an unsecured loan to help them purchase their car.

"Borrowers are applying to us from across the UK but our research clearly demonstrates that there are concentrations of demand in London, the Midlands, North West and Wales," said a spokesman for Credit Problems No Problem.
